Approach to Education
The School’s guiding principle is that every human being is “a mine rich in gems of inestimable value. Education can, alone, cause it to reveal its treasures, and enable mankind to benefit therefrom.” A profound belief in the vast potential of each student, and the critical role of education in releasing this potential, is the foundation of our approach.
One implication is that we see it as the task of educators to assist students to discover and develop the unique talents with which they have been endowed, rather than to fill empty receptacles with information. While enabling students to engage with rich educational content from various branches of knowledge, our teachers strive to foster active participation and students’ sense of responsibility for their own learning.
Integrating Being, Knowing, and Doing
Our approach to student development seeks to integrate being, knowing and doing. Students are supported as they strive to develop noble qualities, advance in understanding of academic and spiritual concepts, and engage in constructive action to improve their own lives and the conditions of society.
In addition to rigorous academic training, we offer students opportunities to grow, learn and contribute to the community through programmes that build capacity for meaningful service. This occurs in a manner that grows in complexity as they progress through their years at the school.
